LIMITLESS FACTS I GURU NANAK DEV JI I ORIGIN OF IK ONKAR WORD:
Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj explained Lord's message to people in the form of JAPJI SAHIB. And Japji Sahib is considered to be the resultant (saar-ansh) of Guru Granth Sahib Ji.Ik Onkar includes 2 words: ੧ + ਓ = IK + ONKAR = IK + ON + KAR, that means one lord is the only doer, as clearly explained in GURBAANI GURU JI MAHARAJ:
KARNAE-HAAR KARNAE-JOG, JO TIS BHAAVAE SOYI HOG II
Guru Nanak Sahib has made the structure of Oodaa - "ਓ" alphabet with open mouth in Punjabi language, due to some fact & that's it: the 3 lines in Onkar "ਓ" describes 3 Characteristics of Thoughts of Human Beings: Rajo, Tamo & Sato Gun (refer fig.), but the topmost curve in "ਓ" alphabet with open mouth describes that lord [lord's house / thir ghar] is the utmost of all & infinitely limitless (refer fig.) even beyond the thoughts of goodness [ i.e. sato gun (kindness, humbleness, endurance, etc.)] & so are his bhagats. In further explanation, Guru Nanak Dev Ji mahaaraj has told us that divine being are the ones who are above those 3 Worldly Set of Attachments (Rajo, Tamo & Sato Gun) & be always remain with one (lord), i.e. above all the attachments.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj went to mecca on his fourth udaasi (odyssey). Bhai mardana Ji was with Guru Nanak during his journey. Mardana Ji worn a blue dress made by hajjis, who went on a pilgrimage in those times with him. he took a faqirs staff in his hand & collection of hymns under his arm with a jug for ablutions (cleansing propose). Guru Nanak had now been on udaasis (travels) for more than 20 years, since his sudden disappearance (in 1497), which had alarmed his followers & increased hatred among his jealousers due to his growing influence to start all sorts of mischief, even accusing him of being a thief & stealing from nawab Daulat khan's Modi khana (stores).
During his journey, he had visited in the east, as far as Assam & Burma, in the south, he visited as far as Sri Lanka & in the north, he had visited up to Tibet & China. Guru Nanak dev Ji Maharaj & his companions had travelled so far on foot & did a lot of rectification among people of various origins in the world. Many of whom became his followers.
Guru Nanak – “the preacher“ or ”the Lord himself ”, has been known with different names all over the world.
During the odyssey (udaasi), Guru Nanak Dev Ji visited too many places & preached ppl about one lord & humanity. Guru Nanak Dev Ji also resolved many problems of people from different origins all over the world & considered humanity as one.
After looking at Nanak's gratitude people from different places would like to call him with different names describing his sovereignty. So, let us have a look at how people shower their love for Guru Nanak among different languages :
In India, Guru Nanak has been known as “Guru Nanak Dev Ji”.
In Russia, he is known as “ Nanak Kadaamdaar “.
In Sikkim & Bhutan, “Guru Nanak Sahib” is known as “Guru Rinpochia”.
In Nepal, he is known as “Nanak Rishi”.
In China, Nanak is known as “ Baba Phoosa ”.
In Srilanka, people call “Guru Nanak” as “Nanak Chariya”.
Tibetan people call “Guru Nanak” as “Nanak Laamaa”.
In Egypt, he was known by the name of “Nanak wali“.
Iraqi people call him “Nanak Pir”.
In the glory of Guru Nanak, the people of Saudi Arabia use to call him “Wali Hind”.
