On Valentine's Day, Couples express love for each other by giving roses, chocolates, gifts & valuable items & also express the importance of someone very special in their lives. There are many of us, who are waiting for valentine's day to come again & again.
Valentine was the name of a Saint:
The book 'Legenda Aurea of Jacobus de Voragin' mentions valentine. This day is celebrated all over the world in the name of a Saint of Rome, whose name was Valentine. It is said that Saint Valentine wanted to see love growing throughout the world. But King Claudius of Rome did not like this thing at all. Claudius felt that the Romans were not getting into the army because of their strong attachment to their wives and families.
Love Ban by King Claudius:
King Claudius banned marriage in Rome so that people could join the army in large numbers. But saint Valentine objected to this order of Claudius. In opposition to this, Saint Valentine got officers and soldiers married. Angered by this opposition of the saint, King Claudius hanged Saint Valentine on 14 February. It is said that 14 February is celebrated as 'Day of Love' to remember Saint Valentine.
