"We are getting excited to know about Holi 2022 date & time & of course the fact that why is Holi celebrated?", as the end of March is getting closer. Holi 'or' the festival of colors is the Hindu calendar's second most important festival after Diwali. The festival is all about new beginnings. It welcomes spring and commemorates the end of winter. The Holi festival is always held on Purnima, &/or full moon day in the month of Phalguna, which falls in the middle of March according to the Gregorian calendar.

Those who participate in this festival look forward to it every year, As they get to play with colors and eat delectable dishes.

WHY IS THERE TWO DIFFERENT HOLI DATES IN INDIA?

Holi is a two-day festival celebrated in the majority of countries. Holika Dahan (the burning of the demon Holika) or Chhoti Holi is celebrated on the first evening of the festival. That is when a bonfire is lit in preparation for a puja (or prayer). The bonfire is purifying and is intended to burn away everything that is bad and evil.

Rangwali Holi is the name given on the second day of the festival. It's a day when people get to play with coloured powder and water. Rangwali Holi is also spelled Dhulandi, Dhulendi, and Phagwah.

PURPOSE OF HOLI:

Holi represents the triumph of good over evil and is celebrated as a day of spreading joy and love. The Holi tradition holds that even enemies become friends on Holi and forget any feelings of hardship that may be present.

Besides that, on this day, people make no distinction between rich and poor & everyone celebrates the festival together in a spirit of goodwill and brotherhood. However, the festival is often observed as a time of thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest.

HIRNAKASHYAP ORDERING BHAGAT PRAHLAD JI TO TAKE HOLIKA INTO FIRE

REAL STORY OF HOLI: There are many intriguing stories associated with the festival's origin, but the most famous Holi origin story is about 'Holika Dahan.' According to legend, there was a demon king Hiranyakashyap who demanded that everyone should worship him, but his son, Prahlad, refused because he was a devotee of Lord Vishnu.

When the Demon King decided to end Prahlad's life, he instructed his sister Holika to take Prahlad in her arms and carry him into a raging fire. She had been given a boon that made her immune to fire, But she was burned to death because the boon was only applicable when she entered the fire alone, So, Prahlad remains unharmed. Since then, the day has been marked by the triumph of good over evil.

The Holi festival is celebrated differently in each state. On the night before Holi, a Holika bonfire is lit to commemorate the festival. On this day, people gather around a bonfire to sing and dance and pray for the safety of their loved ones.

The following day, people play with colours, visit family and friends, and then share Holi delicacies, which include food and drinks. Some people even mix bhang drinks with sweets to enjoy the day.
