The harvesting season of the wheat crop in April is known as Baisakhi in India. It is a famous Sikh and Hindu festival. In the year 1699, Guru Gobind Singh founded the Khalsa Panth, and this significant commemoration began with the celebration of Baisakhi. The day's events include new clothing, fairs, the preparation of special dishes, and visits to temples to give prayers. This festival is celebrated in Punjab and Haryana to demonstrate peace and brotherhood.

Baisakhi is a major festival in the Sikh community that is celebrated throughout India, especially in Punjab and Haryana. Every year in April, it is also known as Vaisakhi. STORY OF THE FESTIVAL: BAISAKHI

The festival's story begins with the public beheading of Guru Teg Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, by Aurangzeb. Mughal rule was powerful at the time, and they had a sinister plot to spread Islam across India and convert everyone to Islam. Guru Teg Bahadur could not bear it and stood up to fight for the rights of Hindus and Sikhs. People joined his campaign and retaliated against Aurangzeb after they began to believe in him.

Aurangzeb was enraged by Guru Teg Bahadur's behavior and labeled him a menace. As a result, he was assassinated in public to instill fear among the populace. Guru Gobind Singh succeeded Guru Teg Bahadur as the next Guru after his death. On the occasion of Baisakhi in 1699, he reshaped the Sikh community into the Khalsa Panth, a family of soldier saints. He was the first to create the Khalsa Panth in the presence of thousands at Anandpur Sahib.

During the festival, he set up a tent and emerged from it with a sword, daring any Sikh willing to give his life to reach the tent. He kept doing this until five men volunteered and vanished into the tent. People in the crowd were curious and worried about what happened to those guys. And, all of a sudden, the five men wearing turbans and accompanying the Guru reappeared. These men were baptized into the Khalsa by the Guru. These five were later dubbed the 'Panj Piare,' or 'Beloved Five.'

BAISAKHI CELEBRATIONS

Baisakhi is a festival that is celebrated with great joy and zeal. The entire environment is filled with bright colors and festive energy. In the morning, a large procession known as Nagar Kirtans, led by five Khalsas, parades through the streets. The Golden Temple in Punjab is illuminated with sparkling lights. Devotees attend special prayers in Gurudwaras as well as fairs. The festival's unique attractions include Bhangra and Gidda dance performances, music, folk songs, and traditional food.

Kadah-Prasad is a common dessert that is distributed to the public. Langar is arranged in Gurudwaras where people can enjoy rice. The Sikh community is well-known for its lively spirit, joyous nature, and optimistic attitude; Hence, the festival represents Punjab, the happiest state. The festival brings together family members, neighbors, acquaintances, and relatives.
