Now, let's know how to record with Loom Desktop App:
1. Click on the Desktop App.
2. Now in the "Video" menu in Loom's front-end dashboard choose among the various recording modes available:
Screen and Camera Recording: Captures your screen and camera.
Screen Only: Only records your screen, no camera recording.
Camera Only: Only your camera is recorded.
3. Below the Recording Modes, you can select the area to capture while recording among the following options:
- Full Screen 
- Window
- Custom Size
4. Aside from the "Video" menu, the "Screenshot (Beta)" option is available to capture screenshots while recording the video.


5. Below "Recording Area Selection", "Microphone" & "Camera" drop-down menus are available, where you can select the required option, as per the availability.
6. And in the second last position of the Loom Desktop App, a small size "Recording Pixel Mode Selection" drop menu is available, where you can select up to 4K HD for Business & Enterprise Plans, where Starter Edition is limited to 720p HD
7. Below all, is the "Start Recording" button that can be used to start the recording session.
8. Now let's have a look at some advanced features, that can be used from the "Preferences" option by clicking on the three dots. There are three sections in the "Preferences" menu:
- Settings
- Shortcuts
- Account

a.) In the "Settings" section/sub-menu, you can turn on/off all the options as in the below 'GIF'.

- Highlight mouse clicks (i.e. done with a yellow bubble) 
- Recording countdown 
- Flip camera
- Show Control Menu

b.) "Shortcut" section in the "Preferences" menu is used to access quick tools using keyboard shortcuts, that can be configured under this section.

c.) "Account" section includes three options (only appears when the user logged in):
- Logout of my  account
- Download updates in the background (on/off)
- Launch at startup (on/off)
 
Note: Subscribers with Loom Business or Enterprise edition can access some extra/premium features like:

2. HOW TO USE THE LOOM CHROME EXTENSION

To begin recording, click on the Loom Chrome extension at the top right corner of the browser as shown below:

1. Pay close attention to the Recording Settings that will appear; this is where you can choose what to record:

• Screen and Camera Recording
• Screen Only
• Camera Only


2. Below you will be able to select whether you want a Full Desktop or Current Tab recording for the Screen and Camera and Screen Only options.

3. In recording settings, the microphone & camera settings can be settled-up as desired.

4. Below all, "Advanced Options" are available & to access them, you need to click on "Show advanced options" from where you can turn "on/off " the desired feature like:
- Include Tab Audio
- Flip Camera
- Use Photo for Screen Only
- Control Menu
-  Recording Countdown

5. Below all, the "Start Recording" button is available, which will be used to start the recording sessions.

6. At the top right corner, the extension dashboard includes 3 dots, that include "About" & "Help"  options.

7.  Once you are satisfied with the settings, you can step on further to start recording.

Note: The Loom Chrome Extension will not include all of the recording features available in Loom Education, Business, and Enterprise. Some are only available when using the Loom desktop app to record. As a result, we recommend having both installed.


What can Loom Android do for you?

What is Loom for Android's limitations?
Uploading or downloading from the Android app is currently not possible.

To begin a Screen + Cam, Screen Only, or Cam Only recording, follow these steps:
1. Open the Loom app and select the capture mode you want at the bottom right. 
2. You'll be asked to allow the app to record audio and video, display over other apps, and screencast. 
3. You must grant them all before beginning either type of recording.

1. Launch the Loom app and press the pink record button. Select to record your camera. The selection next to the record button allows you to switch between your front-facing and rear-facing cameras.


2. It is not possible to record both the screen and the camera at the same time. Unfortunately, this is a limitation of Apple's iOS.


3. To begin recording, press the round button. When you're finished, press the same button to exit.
