WHAT IS A PEO AND WHY DO YOU NEED ONE?

A PEO is a co-employment agreement where a third-party provider takes on the responsibility of paying, administering & managing benefits for your employees in a specific country or region. This means that you can assign/outsource the complex and time-consuming tasks of HR, payroll, tax filing & compliance assurance, insurance & employee health benefits to a PEO, while retaining full control over your existing employees' work and performance.

A PEO can help you save time and money, reduce risks and liabilities, and access better benefits and perks for your employees. It may also help you expand your business into new markets with the condition of having your business entity pre-registered there.

TENTATIVE DUTIES OF AN IDOL PEO

PEOs are used by business owners to outsource HR tasks such as payroll and paycheck processing, tax administration, and regulatory compliance. Additional HR and administrative responsibilities that can be delegated to a PEO include:

  • Recruiting and selection
  • Onboarding and deactivation
  • Administration of employee benefits, including health insurance and ACA compliance

  • Candidate selection
  • Templates for policies and employee handbooks

WORKING OF DEEL PEO

PEO services are generally availed by small to mid-size businesses ranging from accounting firms to high-tech companies and small manufacturers. Working of Deel PEO is described as follows:

  1. When a company hires a PEO, it enters into a co-employment agreement. The PEO and client share employer responsibilities and liabilities as co-employers. In a PEO agreement, both parties outline the allocation of these responsibilities (also known as a PEO client service agreement).
  2. The client company retains ownership and control over its operations, including employee day-to-day management, product development, marketing, sales, and service. Administrative tasks, employee records, employee benefits, payroll processing, and employment taxes are typically handled by the PEO.
  3. The agreement defines which employees are covered and establishes compliance obligations, in addition to identifying each party's responsibilities.
  4. Both the client company and the PEO are subject to compliance requirements. However, PEOs typically assume much of the liability for the employment business, such as risk management, human resource management, payroll taxes, and employee tax compliance—all of which contribute to business owners' peace of mind.
  5. PEOs are frequently in charge of workers' compensation insurance liability and will prioritize safety and compliance. PEOs can also provide coverage under many domestic employment laws and regulations, including federal, state, and local discrimination laws, to worksite employees.
